It's 2.6.9-1.724_FC3

I'm guessing it's a problem with ehci as well as none of my USB2.0 devices seem to work with ehci loaded :-(

Yes.

I don't think it's a setup problem on your part. Most likely it's a bug
in EHCI driver.
