see, i did not have this temperature issues before on fc2 about 6 month ago. nor under win xp. the fan used to kick in at high speed, cool down and fan speed used to slow down to min.

There is always a tradeoff with 'cpu temperature' - and the 'fan
speed'

i.e when the CPU is running at lower freq - one can slow down the fan
and keep the same tempurature - or one can keep the fan running faster
- causing the CPU to get cooler.

My guess is this part of the logic is done in the bios. Don't know if
it is configurable.
