"rpm -q xmms-mp3" must print out the version number of that RPM. If not,
then it is not installed. If it is installed then probably the plug-in
is not enabled. Open the xmms options and under settings you will find
input plug-ins. The "MPEG Layer 1/2/3" (libmpg123.so) must be enabled.
If only librh_mp3.so is active, then you can't play mp3 encoded files.
