This bug, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=135161 , is what ultimately created the file /etc/sysconfig/kernel. I asked for more information regarding the parameter values for UPGRADEDEFAULT and DEFAULTKERNEL. As you can see from the response one person thought I was spamming the bug. Touchy people! The values may be obvious, and from what has put forth, are few in number.
