FC3: laptop slow without CDROM in drive

Hi all,

I searched the the archive, but didn't find a suitable thread, although
I think I saw this topic covered somewhere in the net.

My laptop (Dell Precision M50) is very slow when starting gnome without
a cdrom disk in the drive. The IDE light is blinking constantly and it
is taking forever before the startup icons appear.
Is there a solution to this problem? Sorry if this was covered before.

Regards
Chris
