Don,

I upgraded my hardware from a P2-MMX 200MHz to a Celeron 2.4GHz.

My new system doesn't have a floppy drive - I tried to remove the floppy
support with "modprobe -r floppy" and it seems to take it, but "modprobe -l
| grep floppy" still shows it and I still get the following errors in
logwatch:

Errors inserting modules:
   floppy (/lib/modules/2.6.8-1.521/kernel/drivers/block/floppy.ko) :
      No such device : 21 Time(s)

Is there any fix for this short of rebuilding my kernel?

Might be just a workaround, but edit you /etc/modprobe.conf and put

   remove floppy

in it. In future you might want to add a floppy drive...
