Hello,

I can generally ssh into my home machine from work, but with FC3 I'm
seeing the following in /var/log/messages:

Nov 19 07:01:38 littlenail kernel: eth0: link down
Nov 19 07:01:40 littlenail kernel: eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x41E1
Nov 19 07:01:53 littlenail kernel: eth0: link down
Nov 19 07:01:55 littlenail kernel: eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x41E1

The ssh session usually recovers. I saw these messages in FC2 as well,
but they did not seem as detrimental. Yum rarely recovers, at least not
within my patience level.

The driver loaded for the Ethernet interface is 8139too. Upstream is a
DLink DI-624. Any insight?

I saw this problem on a server that didn't get along with apmd. I
didn't try very hard, but I couldn't figure out a way to keep apmd from
shutting down the if without shutting down apmd altogether.

It's entirely possible that the autonegotiation is failing between the two devices. If possible, force your settings. On the 8139too, the options are (I think) "media=0x0230". See "modinfo 8139too". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - Rick Stevens, Senior Systems Engineer rstevens@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx - - VitalStream, Inc. http://www.vitalstream.com - - - - Dyslexics of the world: UNTIE! - ----------------------------------------------------------------------
