ide-scsi vanished with the advent of the 2.6 kernel. Remove it from your boot
line and replace with ide-cd=/dev/hdx (where x is the drive letter of the DVDRW)

As to a new kernel, keep the one which comes with FC3. We of the rawhide list
have spent bloomin ages ensuring it works. If, after removing the ide-scsi
line from your boot line, you still have problems - please file a bug in
bugzilla. That way it can be investigated and sorted.
