Hi,

For network problem, as root type the following in a terminal window:

ifconfig

It should give details for eth0 (your network card) and lo (loopback)
devices. If not give us some more info.

For floppy disk:

mount /mnt/floppy - to mount the floppy disk
umount /mnt/floppy - to unmount it.

To access windows partition:
mkdir /mnt/windows
mount /dev/<windows_partition> /mnt/windows

Remember to change <windows_partition> to suit your system.
