I have not tried plugging a PS/2 keyboard and mouse into the KVM switch because I found that that configuration didn't work for the FC1 system that is on the same KVM switch. In that configuration (PS/2+USB) the FC1 console would work at boot but usually not after the KVM switch was shifted to another node and back again. But the FC1 console works in the USB only configuration now no matter what I do, boot or shift the KVM focus.
Shouldn't there be a way to tell FC2 which keyboard and mouse are valid? Maybe some utility that runs at boot time, like kudzu, fouls things up. Sometimes I get a kudzu screen during the boot process wanting to know what to do with "ATEN...". But since I don't usually have a keyboard then I can't respond. What would I do anyway delete the "ATEN.."? Wouldn't the same thing just happen again and again?
What puzzles me is that FC1 is not afflicted.

You probably know that the KVM will appear to have its own keyboard and
mouse, even if you don't have those plugged directly in to it. So, from
your configuration diagram, I believe you are correct - it !

the KVM rather than the hub?
