Hey, Steve! Good to read you again.

I thought this thread would die, but since it refuses I'll just *have*
to pitch in. Generally spelling and grammar are going downhill fast...
English is my second language and I still find that most of the
"natives" speak/write/think in simply deplorable fashion. Examples:

Misuse of similar words: complimentary/complementary or affect/effect
Language destruction: walla! (voilà!) and expresso (espresso)


"its" versus "it's".   grrrr .....

Since this is now a permanent thread :-) can I add that I recently saw someone in a fairly intellectual discussion group persistently using "mean't".


Sadly, I expect that the posessive pronoun "it's" will soon be accepted practice ...
