That's strange - there was no Red Hat 9.0.

The correct name for that distribution was Red Hat Linux 9.
With regards to your touched, I'm assuming you mean in the graphical X environment.
RHL 9 used XFree86 FC2 uses X.org
You may need to check your configuration files or ask on X.org.
