/etc/sysconfig/network contains the HOSTNAME set.

All domain names for which Sendmail shall feel responsible as local
domains have to be listed in /etc/mail/local-host-names. You get what
actually your Sendmail thinks by running

echo '$=w' | sendmail -bt

sendmail -bt -d0.9 < /dev/null

will print out how your Sendmail identifies.
