smartctl -l error /dev/... When to worry ?

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi all!

I just discovered smartctl and the interesting output with
# smartctl -l error /dev/hda

hda reports no errors (newest disk), but hdb and hdf do report some
errors every few hours (see outputs below)

When do I actually have to start to worry about errors ?
I mean, is an error every few hours normal for older (1-2 years) disks ?

All 3 disks are in my desktop and it usually only runs for 5-6 hours
a day. Dispite the error messages, I didn't have any troubles (crashes
or data loss) so far.

Thanks a lot for any insights!

Cheers,
Hannes.
