how does one set the name for the linux machine when being browsed by a
windows machine?

samba is up and running, and i can access the shares on the linux box
from my WinXP client, but it's named 'localhost'... I'd like to change
it to something more descriptive.

thanks!

red hat --->system settings---->Network log in as root

select the "dns" tab
in the host name box, change to what you want me... [jim@My_World] instead of user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx that should do it . jusr reboot afterwards, if any questions, post BEFORE you change it
