FC2 kb+mouse freeze at meada check dialog

I have an Emachine M6807 Laptop that I'm trying to install x86-64 FC2.
I currently have RH9 installed and had no problems at all with the install.
When trying to install FC2 however the kb and internal mouse freeze
at the media check dialog. The kb and mouse may be dead before the
media check but that's the first place I need to use them.

Any help would be appreciated.
