future upgrade techniques

Has there been any thought given to allowing a more
'debian' upgrade approach to be used for the next upgrade
from Core 2 to Core 3. Assuming Core 3 doesn't involved
a new kernel release (v2.8) then it would seem that
an 'apt-get' type upgrade might work quite well for many
users rather than being forced to do an anaconda installation.
