I was having the same problem. It seems that yesterdays updates fixed it
for me, sort of. I think that one of the files had some hardware
definition stuff in it.

After downloading yesterdays updates and rebooting I now have sound.
However, there is a terrible hum and I can't get rid of it.

Under FC1 I had installed the ALSA drivers. I had to twiddle with them
quite a bit. Finally, I was able to play sound. I had the terrible hum
but I was able to get rid of it by muting the digital output option.

Under FC2 the hum is there if I mute everything except the main volume
control (why are there 20 or so mixer controls ???) I am still trying to
fix this.
