Well, I can tell you that on my ASUS A7V8X-X machine, my upgrade from FC1 to
FC2 seemed to go quite smoothly.  Admittedly, this is not one of the newest
boards, but it appears that it's not the entire manufacturer line.

Maybe it's a problem with the specific chipset (Intel 865PE)?
