Ask NVIDIA, they're the only one entity who can help you.

No, they don't want to cooperate with the community of NVIDIA cards' users.

Nvidia does cooperate with nvidia card users by providing drivers for linux/windows/etc. The issue of binary -vs- gpl drivers is independent of the issue of cooperation.

No it's not. Whith binary only drivers, they're your master.
They even IMPOSE macrovision on your computer.

With Free Software drivers (note: not necessarily GPL) you wouldn't be
having the troubles there are right now (which are only happening
_once_again_ although for different technical reasons).

if you run "./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run -x" you will get source of the driver in ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1/usr/src/nv.

So is it binary only driver ? Think not :-)
