You are saying, that if you run

chkconfig --level 2345 postgresql on

validated with: chkconfig --list postgresql
and showing that the runlevel links are set

after a reboot PostgreSQL is not starting automatically? Or what does a
"ps axuwww | grep postgres" tell you then? That is PostgreSQL from FC1
with no modifications in any configuration file?
