How much memory does the Cirrus Logic GD5480 Card have?? (I'd say possibly only 1 or 2MB) Maybe it's maximum resolution is only 800x600. So if that's the case, the video cards memory is limiting the maximum resolution.

Well then you may need to reduce the colour depth to 16 or even 8bit's.
