Take a look at http://linux-laptop.net  you will find there by manufacturer 
and model an index of web pages of those who have gone before you.

Personally, I'm running FC1 on a SONY PGG-FX210  10g HD 256mb RAM
Only thing that doesn't work is the modem without software, but I get around 
that with a PCMCIA modem when I have to dial out.
