"Didn't work" is not anything someone can get useful information from,
unfortunately. Did you fail compiling the driver or did loading the
module not found your modem?

Ok, sometimes reading and thinking is not enough, that's right ;)

Well, there are Intel drivers for the poster's modem, so I think it is a
good start to use that driver source. As I posted on my system the
driver compiled without any problem. I just have not any Intel winmodem,
so I could not check loading the modules and recognizing hardware.

Stuart contacted me in personal mail and we'll see how far he will get.
