Choose a mirror source near you and set that up for usage with up2date
or yum. Please see

for detailed instructions. Having that set up switch to runlevel 3 using
command "init 3" and leave the graphic mode. Now on console run the
update. With the previously chosen good mirror server no download should
break and the whole process be no problem.
