If that doesn't work, you need to check the ribbon cables to the 80 gb
ide hard drive.  Also, make sure your bios supports an 80 gb hard
drive.  Some only support 40 or 60 gb drives without a flash bios
upgrade.  Sounds like a hardware i/o problem.
