One item I don't see is the indication of the module ide-scsi.
This is off my grub.conf.
title Fedora Core (2.4.24-1.ll.rhfc1.ccrma)
        root (hd0,1)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.24-1.ll.rhfc1.ccrma ro root=LABEL=/1 hdc=ide-scsi vga=0x31a
        initrd /initrd-2.4.24-1.ll.rhfc1.ccrma.img
title Fedora Core (2.6.4) # The 2.6.xx kernels support this directly and don't need ide-scsi
