Could be anything ???
power surge, blackout, does it have a surge protector or a UPS battery
your BIOS could be set to sleep or standby your machine, disable APM and ACPI 
in your BIOS. Also disable apmd and acpid in your startup scrips.
could be an (x)screensaver problem
