NFS syntax error in /etc/fstab?

For some reason, if I type

host:/path	/mount/point	nfs	defaults	1,1

into /etc/fstab, mount dies with a syntax error. The fstab(5)
manual page says this is the correct syntax; it sure used to
be, anyway. It works if I just type

	mount host:/path /mount/point

on the command line. What's going on here?
