up2date hanging and other problems on new VIA C3 processor

I'm running Fedora Core 1 on several Intel and AMD based systems and I've never had this problem.

I installed Fedora Core 1 last night on a Syntax S635MP motherboard with a VIA C3 1.3Giga Pro processor.

The first problem I'm having is up2date hangs and won't update the system:

I've tried using the default sources as well as mirrors and it's always the same thing. I also had to use the --nosig option because for some reason it's always complaining it does have a valid Red Hat GPG key. I re-imported the key several times and still it complains. I did an MD5 comparison of the key file to my other working systems and they match exactly.

The other problem I'm having is the CPU clock speed isn't recognized correctly. It's supposed to be a 1.3Ghz processor yet /proc/cpuinfo shows only the following:
