Re: Ximian Connector

I am successfully using Ximian Connector with Evolution 1.4.5 and FC1. You can download the Ximian Connector RPM from the Ximian FAQ site. It will not work however until you install the license file which you must pay for. Also, there is a missing dependency that I haven't found any RPM's to satisfy, so I copied the missing library from a RedHat 9 box and did a rpm -Uhv --nodeps ximian-connector-something.rpm and it works ok. I copied /lib/libcom_err.so.3 from the RH9 box to the same location on FC1, and I <?>think</?> you also need to copy it to /usr/kerberos/lib/libcom_err.so.3. If you find another place to get the missing library, let me know, because I have to remove the ximian-connector package every time I do an apt-get operation, because it complains about the missing dependency.

Here's the (painfully long) url to download ximian-connector:
http://support.ximian.com/cgi-bin/ximian.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=asBvcX2h&p_lva=&p_faqid=173&p_created=1017269162&p_sp=cF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTQ3JnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9JnBfcHJvZF9sdmwxPTcmcF9wYWdlPTE*&p_li=
Otherwise, go to the Ximian homepage/support/Ximian Connector link/Can I install Ximian Connector without using Red Carpet? <http://support.ximian.com/cgi-bin/ximian.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=mwRcdX2h&p_lva=&p_faqid=173&p_created=1017269162&p_sp=cF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTQ3JnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9JnBfcHJvZF9sdmwxPTcmcF9wYWdlPTE*&p_li=>

Hope this helps.

Has anyone used Ximian Connector successfully with Fedora Core 1?

There does not appear to be a way to try it our without buying
the license up front. They have a package for RH9, but I was not
sure it would work for Fedora, and don't want to pay $69 to find
out.
