Weird behaviour in sound

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello guys,
some days ago this begun to happen, and now this behaviour is repeating
every day: When I reboot, sound is gone. I cannot change mixer settings.

I'm using 2.4.22.2140 with ALSA

This is how modules are when I log in:

[surak@casa surak]$ lsmod
Module Size Used by Not tainted
sd_mod 13452 0 (autoclean) (unused)
snd-pcm-oss 44036 0 (autoclean) (unused)
snd-pcm 84612 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss]
snd-page-alloc 9396 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm]
snd-timer 19300 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm]
snd-mixer-oss 15504 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss]
snd 46116 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss snd-pcm
snd-timer snd- mixer-oss]
soundcore 6500 0 (autoclean) [snd]

Doing a modprobe snd-via82xx, this happens:

[surak@casa surak]$ lsmod
Module Size Used by Not tainted
snd-via82xx 16992 0
snd-ac97-codec 57676 0 [snd-via82xx]
gameport 3380 0 [snd-via82xx]
snd-mpu401-uart 5072 0 [snd-via82xx]
snd-rawmidi 18048 0 [snd-mpu401-uart]
snd-seq-device 5976 0 [snd-rawmidi]
sd_mod 13452 0 (autoclean) (unused)
snd-pcm-oss 44036 0 (autoclean)
snd-pcm 84612 0 (autoclean) [snd-via82xx snd-pcm-oss]
snd-page-alloc 9396 0 (autoclean) [snd-via82xx snd-pcm]
snd-timer 19300 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm]
snd-mixer-oss 15504 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss]
snd 46116 0 (autoclean) [snd-via82xx snd-ac97-codec
snd-mpu401-uart snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device snd-pcm-oss snd-pcm snd-timer
snd-mixer-oss]soundcore 6500 4 (autoclean) [snd]

Now, sounds play through command-line play; Volume-applet is still gone,
but if I right-click it and choose volume control, all the controls are
there.

If I log off and log in again, everything works, I just have to set
volume up (the are all minimum and "mute" is enabled on the
volume-applet).

Here's my modules.conf, not to say I forgot to put it in here (hey it's
2.4)
