Re: Fwd: Promise SATA Module ?

I've gotten further with this by adding the following to /etc/modules.conf:

alias scsi_hostadapter sata_promise

I think I'd read that this promise card works as if it were SCSI? Is this correct and also any ideas about getting the module auto detected and loaded?

Thanks,
Steve

This seems to be the case for me in terms of the device not getting detected. I tried 2.4.22-1.2140 and it doesn't show it being detected in dmesg thou it does list in the hardware browser once loaded. I'm downloading 2149 now to see if that will help and I've tried aranj's 2.6.1. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve

There were some other posts on the list yesterday about SATA boards working with the 2.4.22-1.2135.nptl kernel.

That doesn't let you install to a promise root disk. If you are
already installed and just want to add disks, then yeah, you can
use the new kernel with no problem.

I take it my Promise controller is not included with that patched kernel? Anything particular not working with that kernel to keep it in test?

That kernel should support your controller, which is in the FastTrak
S150 TX2plus family. We'd certainly want to know if it doesn't.
