People,

I've seen a number of screen shots of other users,

what application/applet thus this?

You don't just mean a Terminal with a clear background do you?

In gnome-terminal you can customise your profile so it can have a
transparent background. (Edit > Current Profile > Effects > Transparent
Background.)

In KDE, there is the "Konsole" applet, which is an xterm with console attributes (essentially, "xterm -C"). I'm not certain you can specify that for gnome-terminal. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - Rick Stevens, Senior Systems Engineer rstevens@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx - - VitalStream, Inc. http://www.vitalstream.com - - - - Memory is the second thing to go, but I can't remember the first! - ----------------------------------------------------------------------
