Do you really need to configure samba client? The "network servers" on
fedora's start menu won't be enough for you? or nautilus opening a
smb://ip.to.server ?

That's all fine and dandy, but you'll still need to mount the directory if you actually want to use the files on the Samba server, since very few applications (esp. Mozilla and OpenOffice) can handle filenames presented as smb:// URLs.
