See your /etc/grub.conf:

title Fedora Core (2.4.22-1.2115.nptl)
        root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.22-1.2115.nptl ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi
apm=off acpi=on rhgb
        initrd /initrd-2.4.22-1.2115.nptl.img

So just give the kernel call line the parameter. Above it is my
configuration with definition of drive hdc as an ide-scsi device too.
(rhgb activates the graphical boot.)

If you are a lilo user you have to add to /etc/lilo.conf a line like:

append="acpi=on"
