The RHN applet check the sources listed in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources
I'm testing various setups on my boxes including:
- local yum mirror
- remote mirror at redhat and on freshrpms
- RHN + Yum on one Red Hat Linux 9 with both kind of sources.
