I just downloaded and installed from source (here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tpctl/) -- each part, the kernel
modules, tpctl, and configure-thinkpad compliled and installed correctly
(there were warnings on the modules but I think I forgot to do "export
CC=gcc32" first, which probably would have quashed them).  TPB also
worked from source.

No problems at all with any of it.
