autorun / magicdev issue? [Was: Blinking Disk Access Light]

After poking around some more, it seems that the
offending processes are autorun for KDE and magicdev
for Gnome.  

It looks like when autorun checks for a new CD, it
accesses the filesystem in such a way as to cause the
disk access light thing to come on...  This wouldn't
be a big deal, except that the flashing light makes
enough of a sound to be extremely irritating.
