I would think using this adapter is same as using a pcmcia flash card. I do
the following to use a flashcard:

1. add the following to /etc/fstab
/dev/hde1               /mnt/flash              vfat    user,exec,dev,noauto 1 2

2. create the mount point

mkdir /mnt/flash

3. Now insert the flash card

4. mount the filesystem

mount /mnt/flash
