Hi!
I get following error while compiling 2.6.24-rc1 :

  LD init/built-in.o
  LD .tmp_vmlinux1
arch/x86/kernel/built-in.o: In function `machine_crash_shutdown':
(.text+0x191c8): undefined reference to `genapic'
make: *** [.tmp_vmlinux1] Error 1

Unfortunately I can't dig much into the code right now, but I would try
bisect or any other suggestion you have. Here is some more info and
the config file is attached alongwith. Please let me know if any more
information is needed.
